The City of Cornwall is a progressive community of 47,000 situated on the banks of the St. Lawrence River in Eastern Ontario. Cornwall boasts a modern economy led by forward thinkers and offers an extensive array of urban amenities making it an excellent place to build a career and raise a family.
The City of Cornwall is protected by a force of dedicated firefighters operating out of two fire stations, allowing for prompt response and assistance. Our team focuses on fire prevention, public fire safety education and fire suppression.
In addition to traditional fire fighting duties, Cornwall Fire Services personnel are trained to efficiently handle rescues at accident scenes, explosions, floods, hazardous material incidents and water and ice rescue. All of these functions are performed so that lives are protected and property and environmental impact is minimized. These activities are conducted under the direct supervision of Cornwall Fire Services company officers in accordance with established policies, guidelines and procedures. Other tasks required from our firefighters include routine maintenance of equipment, property inspections and station duties.
The preferred candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, thrives in a team environment, enjoys taking on new challenges and performs at their best in critical situations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current resume
- Proof of formal education (certificate/diploma/degree/transcript)
- Current Basic First Aid with CPR certificate (Have a look at our learning center for training in your area.)
- Driver's Abstract with less than six (6) demerit points accumulated
- Pleasure Craft Operators Card
- Ontario Class D driver's licence with Z endorsement (or equivalent)
