The City of Thorold is seeking dedicated individuals to join the Thorold Fire and Emergency Services team as Career Firefighters. Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include:
- Participating in firefighting operations and emergency response
- Conducting fire prevention education and community outreach
- Maintaining equipment and fire apparatus
- Responding to emergencies and performing rescue operations

Minimum Qualifications
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Provide an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent
- Provide proof of NFPA 1001 Fire Fighter I and II certifications
- Provide a valid Firefighter Services of Ontario certificate
- Provide proof of valid First Aid/CPR – minimum Level C
- Provide proof of a valid Ontario Class D with Z endorsement Driver’s License
- Provide a drivers’ abstract dated within 30 days
- Possess superior interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
- Have a strong desire to serve the community
- Previous experience in fire suppression, construction, trades, emergency medical services, etc.
- Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check required
Preferred Qualifications
- NFPA 1002 Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator certifications
- University degree in any discipline
- Community College diploma in any discipline
- Trade Certification in any discipline recognized by the Ontario College of Trades
- Career or volunteer suppression firefighter experience
- AEMCA Designation
- Community Service involvement
