Firefighter – Burlington – 2020
The Burlington Fire Department is a team of highly trained and caring professionals who provide vital services that increase community safety and quality of life. We are currently seeking a skilled candidate to fill the role of Firefighter.
Duties and Responsibilities
Through this physically demanding career successful applicants will respond to fires, motor vehicle accidents and medical calls, and provide technical rescue services in areas such as hazardous materials, high-level rope, and ice/water. Firefighters are also involved in delivering public education and prevention initiatives to the community and are responsible for routine maintenance of stations and equipment.
Please note that applicants with previous part-time or full-time fire fighter experience will be given first consideration.
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
Valid Ontario Class "D" Driver's License with a "Z" endorsement and a clean driver's abstract
National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1001 Fire Fighter Level I and II certified from an accredited program from a recognized institution, accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or the Pro Board.
Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level HCP Certificates
Will require successful completion of FSO candidate testing and Psychological pre-screening
• College Diploma or University Degree in any discipline recognized by an accredited association, organization, or institution
• Emergency Medical Care Assistant (EMCA) Designation
• NFPA 1031 Certification
• NFPA 1035 Certification
