Nobody posts their 5 AM runs.

Nobody sees the flashcard stack at midnight. The apparatus manuals. The third PT session that week when you're already sore.

But the panel does.

Every recruit class has someone who outperforms their competition on paper. Not because they were handed anything — because they put in the reps before the application even opened.

Fire Recruitment exists to help you get ready before the window does.

Study the process. Train the right way. Show up as the candidate they can't ignore.

Your next department is watching. Make the work count.

👉 Start your firefighter career prep at firerecruitment.ca

Your first alarm is nothing like you imagined.

The tones drop. Your heart jumps before your brain catches up. You're in gear before you're fully awake. You're on the apparatus before you've processed the address.

Then you're there.

And every drill, every shift, every hour you put into getting ready — it locks in. The training takes over.

That's what probie year teaches you that no classroom can: you're more ready than you think.

We help firefighter candidates get there — with the resume, the process knowledge, and the prep to make the most of every shot they get.

What part of the hiring process are you working on right now? Drop it in the comments 👇

Three things we hear all the time — and why they're holding people back.

MYTH: You need to know someone at the hall to get hired.
REALITY: Most departments rank candidates purely on testing scores, structured interviews, and documented experience. Connections help open doors — they don't carry you through the process.

MYTH: You have to be a volunteer first.
REALITY: Some departments prefer it. Many don't require it. What they all want is documented skills, a strong file, and a serious application.

MYTH: If you didn't get hired the first time, you won't get hired at all.
REALITY: Some of our clients applied 3–5 times before landing their career position. Each attempt builds your file — if you're learning from it.

The process is hard. The myths make it harder than it needs to be.

What's the biggest misconception you've heard about getting hired? Drop it in the comments. ⬇️

Before you hit submit on your next application — make sure these are locked in.

✅ Resume tailored to this specific department (not a generic copy-paste)
✅ Cover letter that speaks to their values, not just your own
✅ Documented volunteer or paid emergency service hours
✅ OFAI/FACT or CPAT completion for Ontario departments — confirm which one they accept
✅ Certifications relevant to the posting (EMR, NFPA, Fire Science)
✅ Three professional references who know your emergency service work
✅ A clear understanding of the department's testing process and timeline

Your application is your first impression on a department that could be your hall for the next 25 years. Treat it that way.

Which of these do most candidates skip? Comment below — we read every one. ⬇️

Rest in peace, Const. Tarun Bali.

On June 10, 2026, Const. Tarun Bali of the Ontario Provincial Police was killed in the line of duty near Hearst, Ontario. He was 29 years old, with 2½ years of service.

He was described by those who knew him as courageous, selfless, and endearing — an officer who showed up every day because he genuinely wanted to protect the public.

To his family, his crew, and everyone in the OPP community — we stand with you.

Run your last call, Const. Bali. 🖤💙
