WE’RE RECRUITING

The Pouce Coupe Fire Department provides fire protection, emergency response, and community safety services to the Village and surrounding area. As a volunteer firefighter, you will be trained to respond to emergencies and become part of a dedicated team serving your community. No experience required, just a willingness to step up and serve your community. Training will be provided.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Respond to emergency calls including fires, medical incidents, motor vehicle collisions, and other emergencies when available
  • Attend and actively participate in regular training sessions and ongoing skill development
  • Commit to scheduled duty coverage as assigned and contribute to maintaining department readiness
  • Work as part of a crew and follow direction during emergency response and training
  • Maintain firefighting equipment, vehicles, and the fire hall in a safe and operational condition
  • Support fire prevention, public education, and community events
  • Conduct yourself in a professional and responsible manner as a representative of the Department
  • Contribute to a safe, respectful, and team-oriented fire hall environment

Minimum Qualifications

What You need:

Applicants must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Hold a valid BC Driver’s Licence (in good standing)
  • Be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Reside within a reasonable distance of the fire hall
  • Demonstrate reliability and commitment to training and response

 

Successful applicants will also be required to:

  • Provide a current Criminal Record Check (RCMP)
  • Provide a Driver’s Abstract
  • Complete a Medical Examination confirming fitness for firefighting duties (NFPA 1582 standard)
  • Provide references
  • Successfully complete a physical fitness assessment
  • Agree to comply with department policies, procedures, and code of conduct

Preferred Qualifications

Qualifications Considered an Asset:

  • Previous volunteer or paid-on-call fire service experience
  • Emergency medical training (First Responder, EMR, or higher)
  • Wildland firefighting training
  • Incident Command System (ICS) training
  • Emergency Support Services (ESS) or Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) training
  • Pump operator or firefighting certifications
