
Description
The Municipality of Port Hope is seeking applications for the position of Volunteer Firefighter. This role is essential in providing fire protection and emergency response services to the community. Volunteer Firefighters play a vital part in ensuring the safety and well-being of residents in Port Hope and surrounding areas.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Respond to fire alarms and emergency calls as dispatched.
- Assist in extinguishing fires and executing rescue operations.
- Perform first aid and operate AED equipment as required.
- Participate in regular training sessions and drills to maintain readiness and skills.
- Maintain firefighting equipment and ensure apparatus is in working order.
- Support fire prevention and public education initiatives within the community.
- Follow all departmental policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Work collaboratively with other firefighters and emergency personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
- Reside in the Municipality of Port Hope or within 7km of a Port Hope Fire Station.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Hold a valid driver's license (class to be specified by applicant).
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently certified in First Aid/AED (specify level if applicable).
- NFPA 1001 Level I-II Firefighter certification.
- Employment within the Municipality of Port Hope.
