
Description
The Town of Kapuskasing is hiring for the position of Probationary Firefighter. Reporting to the on-duty officer, the selected candidate will be part of a team responsible for emergency response, equipment maintenance, fire prevention, public education, and participating in meetings as required by the Fire Chief or designate.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Attend training sessions
- Respond to emergency calls
- Perform equipment and vehicles maintenance inspection
- Perform fire prevention and public education duties
- Attend meetings as requested by the Fire Chief or designate
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum High School Diploma
- NFPA 1001 Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications level 2 or the equivalency certification
- NFPA 1002 Standard for Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications – Pump or the equivalency certification
- ICS/IMS 100
- Possess a valid DZ License or the equivalency to be able to drive fire apparatus
- Physically and medically fit for Firefighting job-related tasks
- First Aid and C.P.R. certification
- Previous Firefighter experience
- Bilingualism is a requirement (French and English)
- The position requires the incumbent to submit a Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening as a condition of employment
- The candidate must be willing to complete the ICS/IMS 100 within the first week of employment
