Description

The City of Brockville is seeking Probationary Firefighter(s) to join the Brockville Fire Department. Brockville Fire Department is a team of highly skilled and caring professionals who provide essential community-based education, prevention and emergency response service that enhance public safety and quality of life. Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide emergency response services including fire suppression, rescue, and medical assistance.
  • Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge related to firefighting and emergency services.
  • Engage in community outreach programs and fire prevention initiatives.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure readiness for emergency response.
  • Fulfill any additional responsibilities as assigned by superiors.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Eighteen (18) years of age or older by application deadline and legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma OSSD (Grade 12) or academic equivalent diploma.
  • Successful completion of one of the following:
    • Pre-service Firefighter education and training program certificate including NFPA1001 Firefighter I & II certification.
    • NFPA 1001 Firefighter I and II certification.
    • Letter of Compliance with NFPA Standards from the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office (Legacy) with proof of NFPA Hazmat Operations level.
  • Valid Standard First Aid Certificate with Level C CPR (must remain valid during recruitment process).
  • Valid Class “D” Ontario Driver’s Licence with “Z” endorsement.
  • Meet the medical standards (NFPA 1582) at the time of a medical examination.
  • Reside within a 45-minute commuting distance of Brockville, ON, or willingness to relocate by the end of the probationary period.

  • Professional and/or Volunteer Firefighting experience.
  • University Degree or College Diploma.
  • Trade Apprenticeship or Certification (e.g., Electrician, Plumber, Mechanic, Construction).
  • Commitment to volunteerism and community involvement.
  • Commitment to personal and professional development through ongoing learning.
  • Training and experience operating heavy vehicles (trucks, tractor trailers, buses).

  • Salary: $58,915 Annual Salary.
  • Application Deadline: 4:00 p.m. on Friday May 15, 2026.
