Description
The Winnipeg Airports Authority (WAA) is a community-based, non-share capital corporation that operates, manages, maintains and invests in the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport and affiliate businesses. Operating on a multi-site property, the WAA is responsible for airport operations, security, facilities, parking, ground transportation and communications.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide a fire-free egress for passengers and crew in the event of an aircraft emergency;
- Provide emergency first aid response;
- Initiate fire suppression activities, and assist stakeholders with evacuation and rescue duties;
- Deliver airfield safety-related services, including but not limited to: wildlife hazard management, and safety hazard monitoring, reporting, and mitigation;
- Maintenance, repair, and maintain inventory of related equipment and supplies; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Grade 12 or equivalent;
- Completion of NFPA 1001 Level I & II, and/or current CARS 323.14 Certification;
- NFPA 472, or equivalent;
- Minimum valid SFA/CPR Level C and AED Certification; (Emergency Medical Responder preferred);
- Class 3 Driver’s license with air brake endorsement, or the ability to obtain them within 90 days of hire;
- Driver’s abstract demonstrating a responsible and safe driving record;
- The applicant must adapt quickly to new situations to match shifting demands;
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively to meet shared objectives;
- Ability to take on new opportunities and challenges with a sense of urgency, and enthusiasm;
- Holds themselves accountable to meet commitments and deadlines;
- Strong computer skills and experience working with Microsoft Office;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Maintain a high level of physical fitness and complete a medical assessment;
- Ability to obtain an Airport Vehicle Operator’s Permit and restricted radio/telephone license;
- Airport-related experience is considered an asset;
- Possession and Acquisition License and wildlife management experience is considered an asset; and
- Must work shift work.
