Nanaimo Fire Rescue is currently recruiting for exceptional candidates to join our world-class public safety organization as Fire Fighters. We are looking for individuals who have the skills, experience, and passion to serve the public, work effectively in a team environment, and assist those in need. The career starts as a Flex Fire Fighter, who works full-time hours while being adaptable to the department's operational needs and short-notice schedule changes.
Duties and Responsibilities

- Respond to emergency calls and perform firefighting operations.
- Conduct fire prevention and safety inspections.
- Participate in training and drills to maintain skills and knowledge.
- Assist in community education regarding fire safety.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure public safety.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must meet all minimum requirements by the posting closing date.
- Valid certifications as required (with exceptions noted)
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in emergency response or public safety.
- Knowledge of firefighting equipment and techniques.

- Starting salary: $32.44 per hour (Schedule “A”, Fire Fighters 1st 6 Months – 2026 Rate).
