Description

The City of St. Catharines is currently recruiting for Probationary Firefighters and will be maintaining a twenty-four (24) month eligibility list.

Minimum Qualifications

The following qualifications must be met to become a Fire Fighter for The City of St. Catharines:

  • Grade 12 Diploma.
  • Valid Class "D" Ontario Driver's Licence with "Z" Endorsement.
    • OR other Licence Classification that allows driving in Class D including Class A, B, C with Z Air Brake Endorsement.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider (continuously valid certification and non-expired no later than date of application).
  • Standard First Aid Level C (continuously valid certification and non-expired no later than date of application).
  • NFPA 1001 Standard for Firefighter Professional Qualification Firefighter Level 1 & Firefighter Level 2 Certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional education or training related to fire or emergency services and/or post-secondary education, trades qualifications are considered assets.

Applicants who have successfully completed Phase 1 (Fire Services of Ontario screening) of this process are required to apply online by visiting The City of St. Catharines website at www.stcatharines.ca and clicking on ‘Careers’ at the top of the home page  The online application will guide the applicant through a list of questions related to their qualifications and experience, and will require applicants to include the contact information for three (3) supervisory work references.  At the time of applying, applicants will be required to attach a resume to the online application.  The deadline for applications is FEBRUARY 3, 2025 at 11:59 PM.
