Our Fire Department is growing to meet the needs of the community and will be staffed by 32 full time firefighters and up to 30 Community Firefighters who operate out of two stations andrespond to over 1,000 calls/year. Okotoks Fire Department is unionized local IAFF 4829.
The Opportunities:
The Okotoks Fire Department is hiring for eight (8) full-time Firefighters with our organization,with an anticipated start date of early April 2022. Key responsibilities include having an in-depthknowledge of Fire Services and their responsibilities, including engaging in activities of fireprevention and suppression, rescue work, medical care, delivery of various public safety programs,operation and maintenance of specialized firefighting equipment and fire safety code inspections.You will learn to deal with emergency situations, demonstrate ability to adapt and learn, and have astrong commitment to customer service. Okotoks Fire Department is committed to supporting andworking in a collaborative fire and emergency medical service environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Our firefighters are expected to be available for off-duty page outs; therefore, you are required tolive in an area approved by the Fire Chief, preferably within 15 minutes of the fire hall.You mustbe available to work a repeating schedule that averages 42 hours/week, consisting of 10 and 14hours shifts.

•High school diploma
•Firefighter Level 2 (IFSAC and or Proboard)
•Primary Care Paramedic (formerly EMT-A), be ACP registered
•Valid Class 3 and 4 Alberta Driver’s License with air brakes endorsement, and with no morethan six demerit points
Preferred Qualifications
Aditional assets includespecialty training (i.e. pump or ladder operation), higher education(diploma/degree), and being aSafety Codes Officer.
