Description
The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for up to four regular full-time Firefighters to join our team in the Protective Services – Fire Division, with additional top qualified candidates placed on an eligibility list. Firefighters work as part of a team of career, paid-call firefighters, along with management to achieve an efficient and effective Fire Division. We do this through reliable performance of firefighting, maintenance, education, training and inspection duties and by observing and complying with municipal policies, Department Operational Guidelines and recognized safety practices. While assignments and responsibilities are performed under supervision, firefighters must be capable of making decisions and working with limited supervision until a fire officer arrives. Firefighters must be able to do prolonged and arduous work under adverse conditions.

- Perform firefighting duties effectively and efficiently.
- Conduct maintenance and inspections as required.
- Participate in education and training programs.
- Adhere to municipal policies and Department Operational Guidelines.
- Make decisions and work with limited supervision when necessary.
- Maintain physical fitness for the demands of firefighting.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Good physical condition and suitable for the position of firefighter.
- At least 19 years of age as of the close date.
- No conviction for a criminal or summary offence related to the job of a firefighter.
- Legal entitlement to work in Canada.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal).
- Must pass a health and medical evaluation.
- Required certifications/licenses including a valid BC Class 3 or Class 1 Driver’s License with Air Brake Endorsement.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of fire service-related courses (i.e., auto extrication, rope rescue, confined space, hazardous material or incident command).
- Participated in the delivery of Public Fire and Life Safety Education Programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of various applicable codes and standards.

- Pay Rate: $41.15 - $62.31 per hour (7 steps, 2026 rates), plus benefits.
- Hours of Work: As per the Collective Agreement.
