Description

Langley City, located in Metro Vancouver, is seeking applications for Regular Full-time Firefighters. The city boasts a vibrant community spirit, excellent amenities, and a forward-thinking vision of being 'The Place to Be.'

This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive and innovative fire department that serves a rapidly growing urban area. The position offers a dynamic work environment with access to comprehensive training and development.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Emergency Response: Respond to fire, medical, rescue, and other emergency calls as required.
  • Fire Suppression: Participate in fire suppression activities, including operating firefighting equipment and apparatus.
  • Medical Assistance: Provide first responder emergency medical care at scenes of accidents and emergencies.
  • Rescue Operations: Assist in rescue situations, including extrication and technical rescue scenarios.
  • Fire Prevention and Education: Participate in fire prevention, education, and public awareness activities within the community.
  • Maintenance: Inspect, maintain, and clean firefighting equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
  • Training: Attend and participate in ongoing training, drills, and professional development sessions.
  • Teamwork: Work collaboratively as part of a team to ensure effective and efficient emergency response.
  • Other Duties: Carry out additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors or department leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Documents (must be submitted as one file):

  • Completed Firefighter Application Form
  • Class 3 or 1 full-privilege driver’s license with air brake endorsement
  • Personal Driving Record/Abstract (5-year, obtained within 6 months of closing date, no more than 6 points, no current suspensions or prohibitions)
  • First Responder Level 3 or valid BC Emergency Medical Assistants Licensing Board License in Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) or Paramedic Licence (BLS or ALS)
  • Firefighter Fitness Testing certificate (valid within one year of posting close date or willingness to complete by February 9, 2026)

Preferred Qualifications

  • NFPA 1001 Level 2 Certification: Considered an asset
