Pro-Tec Fire Services of Canada, ULC is Accepting Applications for the Position of Firefighter at the Calgary International Airport.
Salary and Benefits
- Benefits package to include vacation, sick, health/dental insurance, and pension.
- Annual Salary: $80,000
Final candidates will be required to successfully obtain/complete:
- Clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check deemed satisfactory by Pro-Tec.
- Five (5) year clean driver’s abstract.
- Medical Clearance
- Physical Exam (administered after the medical clearance is received)
- Once hired, candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain
- AVOP D license with night endorsement (Airport Driving License)
- ROC-A licence (Air Radio License).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Transport Canada security clearance.
Duties and Responsibilities
Firefighter responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Provide Task and Tactical level ARFF expertise in:
- Emergency response services by responding to and assisting in the mitigating of:
- Any type of Aircraft Rescue Emergencies.
- Medical Response at the MFR Level.
- Haz-Mat response at the operational level.
- Fuel Spills.
- Airside motor vehicle accidents.
- Other emergency responses as directed by the Senior Officer on crew.
- Could be tasked to take command of medical emergencies in the absence of AHS.
- Take part in stand-by for fueling, chemical transfers, and or bomb threats.
- Conduct airside fire extinguisher inspections.
- Take part in community outreach by participating in community safety and accident prevention projects.
- Participate in Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) mandated tabletop and full-scale exercises.
- Carry-out equipment maintenance by operating, maintaining and performing minor repairs to firefighting equipment.
- Operate the ARFF Firefighting apparatus, communications equipment, SCBA, alarm monitoring systems; custodial and light maintenance services at fire stations and surrounding grounds.
- As part of the ARFF Team, carry-out annual Vehicle testing for Dry Chemical and Foam in accordance with relevant CARs.
- Maintain a high level of housekeeping at YYC Station 1 as per SOGs.
- Complete daily truck and equipment checks.
- Accurately complete deficiency and other reports as tasked.
- Adhere to all Pro-Tec, YYC, and Transport Canada rules and regulations.
- Represent the ARFF team internally and externally, e.g., participate in investigations; respond to, and assist in emergencies locally or regionally when tasked.

Minimum Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Grade 12 or GED supplemented by technical training and/or post-secondary education.
- The following courses and IFSAC, ProBoard, or IFE Canada certificates or equivalent are required for the position of Firefighter:
- Firefighter level 2 in accordance with the standards laid out in NFPA 1001.
- Hazardous Material Spill Response at the Operation level in accordance with the standards laid out in NFPA 472.
- ICS 100.
- First Aid at the MFR level, BLS CPR.
- Possess a Valid Alberta unrestricted Class 3 driver’s license with air brake endorsement (Q).
Preferred Qualifications
- Airport Firefighting certification and experience would be preferred but not a requirement.
- 5 years of related and progressive experience in a recognized fire service is preferred.
