Description

The City of Yellowknife is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill multiple positions as a Fire Fighter/Primary Care Paramedic with the Department of Public Safety, working out of the Yellowknife Fire Division.

Key Responsibilities Include: fire suppression duties; emergency medical response and transport; rescue and extrication operations; preventative maintenance on property, apparatus, and equipment; participate in scheduled training; participation in fire inspection, public education, and life safety programs; work under potentially hazardous, physically and psychologically demanding conditions; communicate effectively, respectfully and inclusively at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualified applicants must be at least 18 years of age and a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. Applicants must possess a High school diploma or equivalency and a valid Class 3 driver's license with Airbrake endorsement with no current or pending suspension. Candidates must have successfully completed National Fire Protection Association standards 1001 Level I & II (Fire Fighter) and have a current PCP license and registration from any Canadian jurisdiction. Completion of NFPA 1002, 1072 Hazmat, 1006 Rescue and 1051 Wildland qualifications are considered assets.
