Description

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Emergency Response Maintainer (Fire Fighter) for its Pickering, ON location. This role is responsible for responding to site emergencies, including fire, medical, hazardous materials, rescues, and other health and safety incidents within OPG's generating facilities.

Reporting to the Shift Emergency Response Manager, the Emergency Response Maintainer is essential to ensuring the continued safety and operational integrity of OPG’s properties. This opportunity comes with rotating shifts and a commitment to maintaining a high level of readiness and professionalism in emergency situations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection, testing, operation, and maintenance of emergency response equipment, including firefighting and Hazmat equipment, fire extinguishers, and fire-related station equipment and systems.
  • Demonstrate the use of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) as required.
  • Process 'hot work' activities as recognized by the National Fire Code, transient materials permits, and fire-related documentation.
  • Act as a technical resource to other work groups on emergency response issues.
  • Perform functions related to the work group, such as work group communications, procedure writing, and assessing.
  • Operate and maintain response equipment.
  • Accountable for the health, safety, and well-being of self and others, in accordance with technical and operating procedures and standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma.
  • NFPA 1001 Fire Fighter I & II Certification (copy must be attached with application).
  • NFPA 1072 Hazardous Materials Operation Level (copy must be attached with application).
  • Valid York Physical Fitness Fire Fighter Test OR Ontario Fire Administration Inc. Candidate Testing for all 3 stages (copy must be attached with application).
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License certification for “D” with “Z” endorsement (copy must be attached with application).
  • Valid certification for Standard First Aid and CPR (copy must be attached with application).
  • Ability to pass OPG Fire Fighter Medical Assessment.
  • Strong communication skills and concern for safety.
  • Self-control, relationship building, self-confidence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in Emergency Response is an asset.

Base Location: Pickering, ON

Shift: Rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays

Travel: 25%

Salary Range: $32.28 - $53.16 Per Hour
