Description
The fire department provides fire protection and emergency services to the Town of La Ronge, the Lac La Ronge Indian Band and the Village of Air Ronge. Our service coverage area also extends to the other surrounding communities that require our assistance.
The La Ronge Regional Fire Department is seeking a leader with outstanding work ethic and a safety-first attitude to join the department’s Management Team. The Deputy Fire Chief will play an integral role in supporting the department’s mission and vision for providing community protection.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Deputy Fire Chief oversees operational areas of the department and directs tactical operations at fire and emergency scenes. As a valued member of the management team, this position provides input to business planning and long-term strategic planning. This role requires a decisive, strategic thinker, who has demonstrated problem-solving abilities, excellent communication, change management, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
As a paid on-call fire department, the successful candidate must be well rounded with extensive experience in inspections, public education, prevention and operations, with complex incident command experience and undeniable leadership experience.

Minimum Qualifications
Some qualifications for the role include completion of NFPA 472 HazMat Awareness and Operations Level IFSAC, NFPA 1001 Level II IFSAC Firefighter, NFPA 1033 IFSAC Fire Scene Investigator, NFPA 1041 Level I IFSAC Fire Service Instructor, and ICS 100, 200. Preferred Qualifications
As a condition of ongoing employment, the individual must: live within 10km of the Town’s Fire Hall or be willing to move within the defined proximity upon hiring; be required to share on-call duty chief responsibilities after regular work hours; and possess and maintain a valid Class 3-A Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
