Duties and Responsibilities

- Response to fire, rescue and medical emergencies
- Apparatus and equipment checks
- Fire hall maintenance
- Public education
- Commercial fire inspections
- On-call duty shifts
- Potential deployment for BC Wildfire Service
- Other duties in keeping with the responsibilities of a rookie firefighter in a career hall as directed by the Officer in Command

Minimum Qualifications

  • NFPA 1001 Firefighter 1 & 2 plus HAZMAT Ops with IFSAC or PROBOARD accreditation
  • Valid First Responder III Certificate (no older than 12 Months), Emergency Medical Responder Certificate or BCEMA First Responder or higher License
  • Valid BC class 5 driver's license (or equivalent) with air brake endorsement
  • Sun Peaks Fire Rescue Firefighter Medical Examination
  • Recent Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector check
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 19 Years of age or older
  • Canadian Citizen or permanent resident

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid EMR or PCP license category
  • Technical, Trades, or Post Secondary education
  • Previous Fire Fighting, Rescue, or Emergency Medical Responder experience
  • Volunteer experience with a non-fire / non-medical organization
