For years Sun Peaks’ Work Experience Program has helped aspiring firefighters reach their goals. The training and on-the-job experience that our members receive provides them with an edge in a very competitive job market. Duties and Responsibilities
- Response to fire, rescue and medical emergencies
- Apparatus and equipment checks
- Fire hall maintenance
- Public education
- Commercial fire inspections
- On call duty shifts
- Potential deployment for BC Wildfire Service
- Other duties in keeping with the responsibilities of a rookie firefighter in a career hall as directed by the Officer in Command
Minimum Qualifications
-NFPA 1001 1 & 2 plus NFPA 472 with IFSAC or PROBOARD accreditation
-Valid First Responder III Certificate, or BCEMALB First Responder License
-Valid BC class 5 drivers license (or equivalent) with air brake endorsement
-Sun Peaks Fire Rescue Firefighter Medical Examination
-High School Diploma or equivalent
-19 Years of age or older
-Canadian Citizen or permanent resident

-Previous Fire Fighting, Rescue or Emergency Medical Responder experience
-Volunteer experience with a non-fire / non-medical organization
