Description

Whatcom County Fire District #5 (Point Roberts, WA) is actively recruiting qualified men and women to fill Volunteer Entry-Level Firefighter positions. The District will be establishing an eligibility list of successful candidates for the summer/fall of 2019. This list will remain in effect for six (6) months and may be extended at the discretion of the Fire Chief. *Candidates living (full-time) within the community of Point Roberts may apply without meeting the certification requirements of FF1/2, Hazmat Operations and First Aid, but will be required to obtain such certification(s) within six (6) months of hire date (tuition paid for by District) and be required to sign a two (2) year agreement with the District. United States applicants must meet all other requirements set forth by the District.

Minimum Qualifications

International Candidates must meet the following qualifications at a minimum to be considered:

  • Completion of Firefighter 1 & 2 (NFPA 1001 IFSAC/ProBoard)
  • Hazmat Operations
  • First Responder Level 3/Occupational First Aid Level 3 or higher ( Must be completed by start date) 
  • Completion of Grade 12 /GED/or higher
  • Washington or BC Driver's License (record will be required and must be satisfactory)
  • Must be able to travel without restrictions between the United States and Canada
  • No Criminal History
  • Must be physically fit for the position of Firefighter and pass the District's physical ability test or have a current CPAT certification
  • Must be able to pass the District's medical exam

To attend the mandatory Information Session you must send an email confirmation of attendance by 5pm on August 16th, 2019 to Captain DeFrancesco at Mikedefranmpt@gmail.com . DO NOT email a resume. A response will be sent with an invitation to the Information Session. A resume, cover letter, and drivers abstract must be submitted at the Information Session. Candidates who do not follow these instructions directly will not be considered and will be removed from the process. Only refer to this guide for all information and details of the recruit process. Do not call the firehall. Any questions email Captain DeFrancesco.

September 21/22, 2019 – EVIP Training
