Description

The North Perth Fire Department (NPFD) is seeking volunteer Firefighters for its Atwood, Listowel, and Monkton stations. This volunteer opportunity allows you to serve your community by responding to emergencies and participating in public safety events. The role offers flexibility and meaningful service that fits real life, making a real impact with every call answered.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Emergency Response: Respond to fire calls and other emergencies as required by the department.
  • Public Safety: Participate in public safety events and community education activities.
  • Training: Attend and complete required ongoing training sessions, including evenings and weekends.
  • Readiness: Maintain availability to respond to calls on an on-call basis, 24/7, including weekends and holidays.
  • Equipment and Station Tasks: Assist with station duties and upkeep of firefighting equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Age: At least 18 years old
  • Residency: Must reside within the Municipality of North Perth
  • Availability: Able to respond on an on-call basis, 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays
  • Driver’s License: Hold a valid Class G Driver’s License and ability to obtain a DZ license within 2 years of service
  • Training Commitment: Willing and able to commit to the required ongoing training schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Certification Completion: Willing to complete all training required for NFPA 1001 Firefighter 1, Firefighter 2, and Hazmat NFPA 470 within 2 years of service
  • Physical and Mental Capacity: Meet the physical and mental requirements to become a certified firefighter in Ontario within 2 years of joining NPFD
  • Screening: Successfully complete an aptitude test, physical/medical screening, Vulnerable Sector Check, and provide a clean driver’s abstract

Recruitment Open House: Thursday, November 20, 2025, 6:30PM - 8:00PM at Listowel Fire Station, 620 Wallace Avenue S. Listowel. Opportunity to meet firefighters, view equipment, and tour the station.
