Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Deputy Fire Chief, the Training Officer/Firefighter will provide leadership and direction in the development, management, implementation and administration of all the Fire Department training programs. This position is also responsible for providing emergency response, ensuring the operational readiness of the fire service, and to work alongside, and as necessary, provide guidance to the volunteer members both on and off the fire ground.
Minimum Qualifications
The ideal candidate must have a grade 12 diploma, as well as NFPA 1001 Levels I and II; NFPA 1041 Level 1; NFPA 472 Hazardous Material Operations; NFPA 1002 Driver, Pump & Aerial; NFPA 1021 Level 1; and a Class 3 driver’s license with “Q” endorsement. Candidates must have the designation of MFR (Medical First Responder). The successful candidate must have five years of full-time experience with a fire department, or seven years active volunteer experience, ideally with experience in the development, implementation, and management of fire department training programs. You have strong knowledge of emergency response techniques and provincial act and regulations relative to the activities of a fire service in the Province of Alberta. Experience working with Fire Pro 2 is a definite asset. All certifications shall be issued by IFSAC or Pro-Board.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be skilled in coordinating the activities and training of a large, diverse group of volunteers. It is essential that candidates demonstrate solid written and oral communication and public relations skills; and possess the ability to support, lead, and coach staff and volunteers to a maximize their time, talents and resources for effective and efficient service to external and internal customers. Candidates must have proficient skills in MS Office Suite.
The successful candidate for this position must live within the City of Beaumont City limits.
The successful candidate for this position must provide a clear Criminal Record Check and Alberta Children Services Intervention Check, and clean Driver’s Abstract as a condition of employment and prior to the commencement of work.
