Description

The La Ronge Regional Fire Department is seeking two motivated, conscientious, and professional individuals for their work experience program in 2024. The successful candidates will serve as first responders, dealing with structural and wildland fires, motor vehicle accidents, water rescues, and other emergencies within the Lac La Ronge Region. They will receive training on industry best practices, gain valuable field experience in firefighting, and be responsible for daily maintenance at the fire hall, assisting Chiefs in training and inspections, and conducting daily training. These positions include emergency response duties during working hours and potential on-call responsibilities during off hours. This is a 6-month placement, ending tentatively on October 31, 2024.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal).
  • NFPA 1001 - Level 2 Certification.
  • NFPA 1072 - Operations Level Certification.
  • Willingness to live within 10km of the Town’s Fire Hall or relocate to within this proximity.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Medically suitable for the position of firefighter as per NFPA 1582 standards.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 3 driver's license with Air Brake Endorsement.
  • Maintain valid First Aid/CPR (any level) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in firefighting, military, EMS, First Responder, or Search and Rescue.
  • Preference may be given to recent graduates from a recognized fire college.

  • The Town of La Ronge practices global reference checks.
  • The approved hourly wage range for this position in 2024 is $24.00.
