Description

The Town of High Level is expanding its Seasonal Work Experience Program for the 2024 Season!

The Town of High Level requires four responsible & motivated individuals for the position of
Seasonal Firefighter Work Experience Program, commencing April 15, 2024.
This position is a 4.5 month term position starting April 15, 2024 and ending August 30, 2024, 40 hours per week. A provided wage, in the range $ 19.38 to $ 23.46 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications, will be offered to the successful candidate.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Platoon Captain, the Seasonal Firefighter as part of the Emergency Services Department, is generally responsible for the response to High Level Fire Department emergency calls, Fire Department support and equipment readiness, public education and community engagement.

The successful candidate may be required on an ongoing basis to attend applicable training, workshops, seminars, and courses at the discretion of the Employer in order to facilitate job knowledge and performance.

Minimum Qualifications

• Grade 12 Diploma.
• Standard First Aid/Level C CPR.
• Must pass the High Level Fire Department Physical Assessment Test.
o NFPA 1001 Level 1 or 2.
o NFPA 472/1072 Operations.

Preferred Qualifications

Wildland Firefighting training (NFPA 1051 or Type 1 Wildfire Crew Member).
NFPA 1002 Pump Operator
Air Brake Endorsement
Emergency Medical Training (FMR/EMR or higher).
ICS 200.

Successful Candidates will have an opportunity to attend regional training programs, assist with local training and be an active part of the community. With over 600 calls in 2023, the HLFD is a a busy small municipal department with a large coverage area. Work Experience members in 2023 attended over 200 calls in the 4 month period covering all facets of emergency services.
