Are you a recent fire school grad or university student looking for work experience? The Town of High Level is looking for you! This position is a 40 hour per week position with OT available to provide daytime cover response for Fire and Medical First Response in the High Level Response area. This 4 month term position starts on May 1st and ends August 31st, 2023. The successful candidate will be part of the High Level Fire Department Team including a compliment of 6 full time staff supplemented by Paid on Call Firefighters. Averaging over 40 calls per month, the HLFD is among the busiest fire services in Northwest Alberta.

Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Platoon Captain, the Seasonal Firefighter, as part of the Emergency Services Team, is generally responsible for response to emergency calls, training regiments, Fire Department support and equipment readiness.
Minimum Qualifications
Grade 12 Diploma
Standard First Aid
Must pass the HLFD Physical Assessment Test
Previous Fire Department Experience
Preferred Qualifications
NFPA 1001 Level 1 and 2
Wildland Fire Training (NFPA 1051 or Wildfire Crew Member)
NFPA 472/1072 Operations Level
Emergency Medical Training (FMR or Higher)
Additional Information
The HLFD provides training to candidates throughout the placement. The HLFD has its own training facility, 12 apparatus and a wide variety of emergency calls. These positions (2) are designed as summer work experience positions to gain experience as you continue into your career in Emergency Services.
