Description

The La Ronge Regional Fire Department is looking for a motivated, conscientious and professional individual to take part in our work experience program for 2023. As a first responder, you will respond to structural and wildland fires, motor vehicles accidents, water rescues and other calls in the Lac La Ronge Region. You will be trained on industry best practices and gain valuable experience in the field of firefighting.

Duties and Responsibilities

The work experience program firefighter will be responsible for daily maintenance at the fire hall, assisting the Chiefs in training and inspections and will conduct training daily. They will be responsible for responding to emergencies during working hours and may be on-call during off hours. This position is a 6-month placement, tentatively scheduled to conclude September 31, 2023.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications for the position include: legally entitled to work in Canada, fluency in English (written and verbal), NFPA 1001 - Level 1 and 2, and NFPA 1072 - Hazardous Materials - Operations Level. Previous firefighting, military, EMS, First Responder or Search and Rescue experience would be considered an asset. As a condition of employment, the individual must be: willing to live within 10km of the Town’s Fire Hall or be willing to relocate within the defined proximity; be at least 18 years of age; have recently graduated a recognised fire college; be medically suitable for the position of firefighter as per NFPA 1582 standards; and possess a valid drivers license with Air Brake Endorsement; as well as maintain a valid First Aid/CPR (any level) certification.
