Description

We are looking for experienced local Rescue Technicians to work on both local and non-local projects in the Thompson Okanagan and Prince George areas. This role will include working as a Confined Space and High Angel Rescue Technician and supporting Irwin's Service Leads as required. 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Provide rescue and recovery for persons in dangerous situation 
  • Provide first aid support as needed 
  • Perform emergency evacuation and/or carry out rescue plan when required 
  • Assist in assessing potential hazards 
  • Inspect and perform preventative maintenance on all rescue equipment 
  • Maintain an active role in ensuring proper work safety for their self and others in the surrounding area through safety meetings and shared vigilance; other duties as assigned 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid High Angle/Rope and/or Confined Space Rescue ticket – trained to a minimum of NFPA 1006 Operations level (certification in both is preferred) 
  • Minimum 2 years rescue experience (5 years preferred) 
  • Experience in industrial related safety positions, particularly confined space knowledge 
  • Experience with gas detectors (Industrial Scientific preferred) 
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license and clean driving record 
  • Basic computer skills are required 
  • IRATA rope access certification would be considered an asset 
  • Valid Confined space attendant ticket is preferred but training will be provided 
  • NCSO and valid First Aid ticket are preferred 
  • SCBA Fit test will be done by Irwin's Safety
