Bradford West Gwillimbury Fire & Emergency Services is now accepting applications for a Career Firefighter who has the spirit, dedication and strong desire to help others. Under the direction of the Deputy Fire Chief, through a chain-of-command, firefighters are expected to maintain a high standard of professionalism, solve problems, work as part of a dynamic team and possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Minimum Qualifications
- Proof of Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Have not been convicted of a criminal offense for which a pardon has not been granted (Successful candidates will required to submit a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening upon hire)
- Possess a valid Ontario class D driver’s license (with a Z endorsement) in good standing
- NFPA-1001 Firefighter I & II certification (Including NFPA 472 or 1072)
- Possess a valid Standard First Aid and a CPR Level “C” certificate (minimum)
- Successful completion of all seven components of the Fire Services of Ontario (FSO) testing

Candidates must pre-register for testing with Firefighter Services of Ontario by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024 (there are a limited number of spots and registration is first come first serve). To register for the testing, please visit http://www.fireontario.com and click on the ‘Register tab. For candidates who have already completed the FSO testing please refer to the Recruitment Guide for instructions. Applications must be submitted to FSO directly. Any applications submitted through the Towns Applicant Tracking System will not be considered.

The position offers an annual salary of $76,247 to $101,663 (BPFFA Local 3940 2020 rates) plus a competitive benefit package. Salary will be commensurate with experience based on candidates’ current rank.
