Description
The Town of Kapuskasing is seeking a Probationary Firefighter for a temporary full-time position. The selected candidate will report to the on-duty officer and will be responsible for attending training sessions, responding to emergency calls, and performing maintenance inspections on equipment and vehicles. Additional duties include fire prevention, public education, and attending meetings as requested by the Fire Chief or designate. The role requires a commitment to safety and community service.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possess a secondary school diploma or equivalent recognized by the Ministry of Education
- Hold IFSAC or ProBoard Certification – NFPA 1001: Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications, Level II, or an equivalent qualification
- Hold IFSAC or ProBoard Certification – NFPA 1002: Standard for Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications – Pumper, or an equivalent qualification
- Complete ICS/IMS 100 Introductory Emergency Management Training
- Maintain a clear criminal record, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, as a condition of continued employment
- Hold a valid Class DZ Driver’s License, or equivalent, permitting the operation of emergency response vehicles
- Be physically and medically fit to perform the duties of a firefighter
- Hold a valid First Aid and CPR Certification
- Possess experience as a firefighter
- Bilingualism is a requirement (French and English)
- The position requires the incumbent to submit a Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening as a condition of employment

- The candidate must be willing to complete the ICS/IMS 100 within the first week of employment.
