Description
Willing to fight fires, respond to emergency calls and perform dispatch functions within a team working environment? Are you bilingual and able to clearly communicate in French both with teammates and citizens? Do you care about citizens’ safety and enjoy fire prevention? Are you able to work shifts in rotation, including nights, weekends and public holidays? Join our dedicated team of full time firefighters and volunteer firefighters in protecting our citizens in emergency situations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be bilingual (French and English, oral / written)
- Must be eighteen (18) years of age
- Hold an High School Diploma or equivalent
- Hold a valid Emergency First Aid and CPR
- Hold a valid Ontario driver’s license, have or obtain before the end of the recruitment process a class D permit with Z authorization
- One to two years of relevant experience in firefighting
- Have successfully completed the Pre-service firefighter program or NFPA 1001 Fire Fighter 1 & 2 of a recognized postsecondary institution; an equivalent will be considered as an asset
- Comply with medical requirements at the time of the medical exam
- Comply with the physical requirements of the employment (TCPC)
- Reside within the limits of the Town of Hawkesbury for as long as you are employed by the Town in order to respond to emergency calls while off duty, within prescribed time limit
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate or postsecondary diploma in Fire Prevention and/or Construction Standards
- Demonstrated ability to work with the Ontario Fire Code and Ontario Building Code
- 3-5 years of experience working as Fire Prevention Officer
- NFPA 1031, Level II; NFPA 1035, Level II and/or NFPA 1033
