Description
The City of Elliot Lake is looking for new Probationary Firefighters to join the Elliot Lake Fire Service. Working in an Incident Command System, the Firefighter’s role is to protect life and property through firefighting, emergency medical and other types of emergency response, often performed under conditions that require strenuous physical exertion. Firefighters are also expected to provide excellent customer service while supporting all 3 lines of defense - Public Education, Fire Safety Standards and Enforcement, and Emergency Response.
Minimum Qualifications
- Be legally eligible to work in
- Be at least 18 years of
- Be physically fit and mentally able to carry out the duties of a
- Have successfully completed at least four years of secondary education or its
- Be able to meet colour vision and visual field
- Never have been convicted of a criminal offence for which a pardon has not been
- Be prepared to undergo a thorough interview, a firefighter knowledge test and medical pre- employment testing as set out by the Elliot Lake Fire
- Have a valid Ontario Driver’s Licence and a good driving record, Class “DZ”
- Be qualified in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and John’s Ambulance First Aid prior to any offer of employment being made.
- Pass the York University Occupation Specific Fitness and Selected Health
- Be currently employed as a Volunteer Firefighter or Career
