Description
The City of Calgary is seeking candidates for the position of Probationary Firefighter. This role is crucial for public service, as firefighters respond to a variety of emergencies, including fires, rescues, and medical situations. - Respond to fires, rescues, medical emergencies, motor vehicle collisions, and other emergencies.
- Engage with the community through fire safety education and participation in community events.
- Adhere to the Calgary Fire Department's policies and protocols.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Have a High School Diploma or equivalent (CAEC or GED), or a Journeyman's Certificate.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English under stressful conditions.
- Have a valid Class 5 driver's license without GDL status and no more than six demerit points.
- Must be at least three years clear from any criminal activity.
- Meet the NFPA 1580 standard for medical conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced First Aid (AFA) certificate or higher.
- CPR-HCP or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Alberta Class 3 driver's license with an air brake endorsement or provincial equivalent.

- Compensation: $37.32 per hour
- Hours of work: Shift work, rotation of 24 hours on, 48 hours off, 24 hours on, 96 hours off.
- Location: Various locations
