Description

The Municipality of Crowsnest Pass is recruiting paid on call fire fighters to join our dynamic and positive team. Community orientated applicants committed to the well being and the safety of the community are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a good attitude, team working skills, have the ability to follow direction and make effective decisions while reacting quickly and calmly in emergent situations. We are looking for applicants that have the ability to support and project values compatible with the goals of the Municipal Fire Department.  Paid on call fire fighters attend weekly training and emergency calls on an as needed basis, due to the unpredictability of calls, hours can greatly vary, but are approximately 2-10 hours per week.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carrying, lifting and setting up equipment on scene and for practices;
  • Wearing and caring for PPE;
  • Crawling and carrying equipment up/down ladders and in confined spaces;
  • Must be able to adhere to the training and emergency response attendance requirements of the department

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be eligible for employment in Canada
  • Must hold a valid Class 5 Driver's License (airbrake endorsement would be considered an asset)
  • Must be able to provide a Criminal Record Check
  • Must reside on a permanent basis within the boundaries of the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass by the beginning of recruit training
  • Must be able to pass a Fire Department Medical with a physician

Previous Fire Fighter training would be an asset, but is not required.
