The City of Vaughan is seeking dedicated individuals to join its Fire and Rescue Service as Firefighters. This position offers physically challenging work, continuous learning, and opportunities for advancement, all while making a meaningful impact in the community.
As a Firefighter, you will operate under the supervision of Company Officers, engaging in diverse operations tasks such as firefighting, rescue work, administering first aid, conducting public education programs, and inspecting buildings for fire hazards. Successful candidates will be part of a dynamic and inclusive workplace that values collaboration and teamwork, contributing to the safety and well-being of Vaughan's residents.

- Perform firefighting and rescue operations
- Administer first aid and CPR
- Conduct public education programs on fire safety
- Inspect buildings for fire hazards
- Operate and maintain firefighting apparatus and equipment
- Work in a team environment under the supervision of Company Officers
- Participate in training and continuous learning opportunities
- Work on a 24-hour shift schedule, including weekends and holidays
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Ability to communicate clearly in oral and written English
- Completion of Grade 12 (or equivalent)
- Certified to NFPA 1001 Firefighter Level I & II
- Certified to NFPA 472 or 1072 or 470 Hazardous Materials Operations Level
- First aid or CPR certificate that includes Level C (adult, child, infant CPR & choking)
- Valid unrestricted Ontario DZ driver’s license with air brake endorsement
- Current clear Vulnerable Sector Check from an accredited Police Service
- Available for a 24-hour shift schedule
- Participation in a skill testing session prior to offer
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current employment as a career or part-time (volunteer) firefighter
- A Pre-fire service college diploma from an accredited program
- Trade apprenticeship or certification recognized by an accredited College of Trade
- Medical training or experience (e.g., paramedic, nursing)
- Demonstrated community service and/or volunteer involvement within the last 2-3 years

- Salary: $67,921.20 - $123,493.00 per year
- Hours of work: 42 hours per week
