Description

The Firefighter is primarily responsible for operational preparedness and emergency response. The Firefighter is
responsible for the safe, effective and efficient employment of tactics and tasks at emergency incidents at the direction of an Officer.

The Firefighter is also responsible for developing pre-plans, conducting inspections, and delivering fire prevention education programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Your role will include:
• Perform Fire and Life Safety Inspection and Public Education Activities
• Perform Pre-Planning information collection
• Perform Fire Suppression and Rescue Operations
• Perform hazardous materials and Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Operations
• Provide emergency patient care
• Perform firefighter safety practices
• Operate and maintain fire apparatus and equipment
• Perform administrative duties
• Demonstrate a commitment to personal and professional development
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Be not less than 18 years of age
• Secondary school Graduation Diploma or equivalent as approved by the Ministry of Education
• Possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License – Class DZ or AZ
• Clear Driver’s License Abstract; with no more than (6) demerit points
• Clear and Current Criminal Record Check and Judicial Matters Check
• Physically and medically fit for firefighting duties
• IFSAC OR PROBOARD CERTIFICATION NFPA 1001: Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications, Level 1; or Timmins Fire Department approval letter or equivalency
• Proof of current Canadian Red Cross First Responder (equivalent)
• Bilingualism is a definite asset

Additional Information

Successful candidate(s) that do not have the IFSAC OR PROBOARD CERTIFICATION NFPA 1001 LEVEL 2 will be
required to get the certification before the end of the probationary period in order to maintain employment.
