About Us: The District of Kitimat is seeking individuals for the unique role of Firefighter/Paramedic. We take pride in being the Province's only dual service department, offering both firefighting and paramedic services to our community. Kitimat, nestled in Northwest BC, is a vibrant town with a population of over 8,000, known for its industrial and residential growth. Our location offers employees a perfect blend of work and leisure, with easy access to outdoor activities and direct flights to major cities for quick getaways.
Minimum Qualifications
Your role will encompass fire/rescue operations, pre-hospital emergency care, inspection/fire prevention, and maintenance duties. Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Secondary School Diploma
- Primary Care Paramedic certification (EMR licensed candidates eligible with conditions)
- NFPA 1001 Level I & II Certification
- BC Class 3 & 4 Driver's License with Air Brake Endorsement
- Eligibility for Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Work experience related to firefighting and/or pre-hospital care
- Primary Care Paramedic certification
- Post-secondary education
- IV endorsement
