The Opportunity

A career with a fully integrated fire and emergency medical service is exciting, fulfilling, diverse and challenging. Soon to be operating from four stations, St. Albert Fire Services members are ready to respond to any emergency 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our dedicated professionals are committed to saving lives and protecting property by swiftly and effectively managing fires, providing medical assistance, and conducting rescue operations.

Minimum Qualifications

Current registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP) as an Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP)

• Current NFPA 1001 Level II certification

• Current NFPA 472 Awareness and Operations Level certification

• Current International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certification

• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP) certification

• Current Class 3 Alberta Driver's License with Q Endorsement

• High School Diploma or GED

• Ability to obtain and maintain a City of St. Albert Driver's Permit

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance with Vulnerable Sector Check

Additional Information

 

• Post-secondary education in a related field

• Previous experience as a Firefighter and/or Paramedic

• Previous experience in a municipal fire service

• Previous experience in a fully integrated fire/EMS service

• Previous experience in a busy EMS system

• Previous experience with high-performance CPR

• Previous experience with fire prevention and public education

• Previous experience with technical rescue

• Previous experience with hazardous materials response

• Previous experience with fire apparatus operation
