We are presently staffing for Full-time Firefighter/Emergency Response Team Members to work at our industrial client site in Redwater, AB. The role will involve providing both fire rescue and medical emergency response at an industrial plant.

The role will alternate between day and night shifts with rotating weekend coverage; shifts are 12 hours in length. Candidates must be local to the Edmonton area OR willing to provide their own transport and accommodations while on shift.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reports to the ERT Lead and assumes the Senior ERT Member responsibilities in their absence
  • Performs the emergency and non-emergency activities of their assigned Emergency Response Team.
  • Assists with the development of site-specific emergency response plans and procedures to ensure a coordinated and effective response to all emergencies across the Pembina Redwater site.
  • Performs inspection, testing, maintenance, and inventory of fire protection and life safety equipment and systems, along with all client assets under the stewardship of Intl. SOS.
  • Participates in meetings as assigned by the ERT Lead and the Pembina Emergency Response Specialist.
  • Assists the ERT Lead in developing plans for response to emergencies involving hot work, confined space entry, working at heights, and all other hazardous activities that may pose a risk to the health and safety of site personnel.
  • Participates in training programs for ERT members and site Auxiliary Fire Teams.
  • Reports administratively and functionally to the Intl.SOS ERT Lead

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Advanced First Aid / CPR (minimum) or MFR, EMR, etc.
  • NFPA 1001 Level II
  • NFPA 472 or 1072 Hazmat Operations Level
  • NFPA 1002 Driver/Operator
  • NFPA 1006 Rope Rescue Technician
  • Relevant experience as an ERT member or firefighter
  • Detection and Control of Flammable Substances (or equivalent)
  • High Vapour Pressure product firefighting and control experience, including ethane, propane, butane, and ethylene experience
  • Experience in hydrocarbon firefighting
  • Class 3 driver's license with Q endorsement (or higher)
