Duties and Responsibilities

Our Protective Services department, under new leadership, is seeking a personable, energetic, and team-oriented Firefighter to join our team! Reporting to the Deputy Fire Chief, this position will be responsible for providing emergency response, firefighting, rescue, and medical assist working alongside our extremely dedicated volunteer members both on and off the fire ground. You will also complete daily, weekly, and monthly inspection and maintenance routines of equipment and firefighting apparatus and will participate in routine and non-routine training.

Minimum Qualifications

The qualifications for this position include a grade 12 diploma, NFPA 1001 Levels I and II; NFPA 1072 Hazardous Material Operations; NFPA 1002 Driver & Pump Operator; Medical First Responder, or higher with valid CPR and AED certification and a Class 5 driver’s license with “Q” endorsement. The successful candidate must have 3 years of experience with a fire department. All certifications shall be issued by the IFSAC and/or Pro-Board. The ideal candidate must have demonstrated knowledge of provincial acts and regulations relative to the activities of a fire service in the province of Alberta and sound knowledge of emergency response techniques. Candidates must have effective communication skills, a commitment to customer service, be a strong team player and have proficient skills in MS Office Suite.

Additional Information

The successful candidate must provide as a condition of employment and prior to the commencement of employment, a clear Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector, a clean Driver’s Abstract, the Firefighter Aptitude Test and completion of the University of Alberta’s Firefighter Applicant Physical Aptitude Evaluation.

The successful candidate for this position must reside within the City of Beaumont limits.
