The Municipality of Middlesex Centre is a thriving, progressive, and welcoming community located just west of the City of London, Ontario. They are currently seeking Probationary Paid-On-Call Firefighters to join their Fire Services team. This position involves responding to emergency situations to protect people, the environment, and property, as well as participating in training and community public education events. The ideal candidate is a team player with a passion for their work and a commitment to ongoing growth and improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities

- Responds safely to emergency calls.
- Drives, operates, and maintains emergency equipment safely and in accordance with policies and legislation.
- Uses proper firefighting and rescue techniques, entering burning or contaminated structures to preserve life and property.
- Provides advanced medical care prior to EMS arrival.
- Respects and follows the departmental chain of command.
- Makes recommendations and communicates through the chain of command regarding concerns and operational guidelines.
- Dons, maintains, and properly uses all assigned personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Deals with the public in a polite and respectful manner.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding municipal-specific information.
- Maintains a level of physical fitness necessary to perform firefighter duties.
- Performs all activities safely, in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
- Maintains a personal duty book as directed.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Ontario High School Diploma.
Experience: Minimum one-year experience in construction, skilled trades, emergency medicine, large vehicle operation, fire prevention, firefighting, or equivalent. Community involvement is a plus.
Specialized Training & Licences: Current First Aid/CPR and S-AED certification; willingness to complete NFPA 1001 Level I and II Firefighter training and NFPA 472/1072 Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations program within one year of employment.
Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of provincial legislation, strong interpersonal skills, computer literacy, and a strong desire to serve the community.
Other Requirements: Must be 18 years or older, possess a valid Ontario class G driver's license, and meet attendance minimums for training and emergency calls.

This is a paid-on-call position with work after-hours for emergency responses, training, and meetings. Candidates must live or work near one of Middlesex Centre's five fire stations, with an expected response time of not more than 10 minutes from being paged.
