We are thrilled to be supporting Cowichan Bay Volunteer Fire Rescue in their search for a new Fire Chief.
Staffed by 35 dedicated NFPA trained certified volunteer firefighters and averaging 175 calls a year, the Cowichan Bay Fire Rescue exists to provide fire, rescue, medical and other life-saving services to those who reside, work, or travel through the Cowichan Bay Improvement District.
This is the first paid position and first full-time Fire Chief for Cowichan Bay Fire Rescue and as such will allow you to apply your years of firefighting, supervisory experience and strong leadership to the department. The Fire Chief position provides operational and administrative leadership for all activities of the department and advises the Board on all matters relating to Fire & Rescue operations and emergency management for the CBID.
Minimum Qualifications
• Trained to the highest standards
• Ten years experience, including five at a senior role such as Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief or Fire Chief
• Live 15 minutes from the fire hall
• Have a current BC drivers license, class 3 with air brakes endorsement
• Computer literate
• Experienced managing volunteers
• First Responder EMA
• Diplomatic and an effective leader
