Description
We are looking for a Fire Alarm / Extinguisher Technician who is generally responsible for the inspection, service, maintenance and installation of fire alarm and Life Safety systems at client sites.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform monthly and annual inspections on fire alarm, suppression, extinguishers / hoses, and emergency lighting systems
Inspect, repair, recharge, and test fire extinguishers to ensure compliance for purposes of equipment certification
Complete all inspection reports and log books as required in a timely and concise manner
Perform field repairs, tracing and trouble shooting as required
Install, program, and verify fire alarm panels, devices and suppression systems
Must be available to be on-call, on a rotational basis
Any other duties as assigned by Station Manager
Minimum Qualifications
Valid Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) registration
Standard 1st - Aid / CPR
Valid unrestricted license with full driving privileges in the province of issue for the specified class of vehicle to be operated on behalf of the company or a higher class of license than that of the vehicle to be operated.
VESDA certification would be an asset
Conduct equipment maintenance procedures at the field level
Preferred Qualifications
Proficient in operating and servicing most brands of fire alarm panels and suppression systems
Experience performing monthly and annual inspections of all Life Safety systems as well as installation of systems
Experience with field repairs, strong fault tracing and trouble shooting skills would be an asset
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Solid understanding of computer based reporting programs
Ability to obtain security clearances as per client requirements
Good vision / hearing
Physically capable of performing the following tasks:
Working at heights and / or climbing ladders or stairs
Working in small / confined spaces
Lifting up to 50lbs
Pushing / pulling (tools / objects)
Sitting / driving
Bending / kneeling / crouching
Standing / walking for long periods of time
Working in adverse conditions (heat / cold)
