As a proud partner with Kelowna Aerospace Defence Programs, we deliver numerous support services tailored to our client, the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF).

Duties and Responsibilities

The Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF) full-time, permanent position is located in Southport and reports to the Fire Chief. Their primary focus is to support flying operations while working day, evening and/or weekend shifts. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide Crash Fire rescue services
  • Respond to hazardous materials, leaks and spills
  • Conduct Fire Extinguisher Training for RCAF members
  • Participate in semi-annual Performance Appraisals
  • Educate RCAF and KF Aero employees in local evacuation procedures
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of rescue equipment
  • Conduct monthly maintenance and reporting requirements
  • Train to maintain high level of physical fitness
  • Participate in the prevention of workplace occurrences and promote a safe working environment

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must hold IFSAC/NFPA or equivalent accredited qualifications
  • NFPA 1003 Airport Firefighter
  • NFPA 1001 Firefighter Level II
  • NFPA 1002 Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator
  • NFPA 472 Hazmat Operations

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficient use of computers and MS Office
  • Self-starter
  • Willing and able to travel
  • Valid Class 4 Driver’s License
  • Valid Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C Certificate
  • Able to obtain Radio Operator and Airside Vehicle Operator Permit
  • Annual Live Fire & Medical Certifications
  • Annual Physical Fitness Maintenance Program
  • Must obtain an Enhanced Reliability Clearance from the Canadian Industrial Security Directorate
