My Story - Fire

Hey everybody! Steve here from fire recruitment. Two things real quick that you probably got from my picture.

  1. I look like I'm 16. (I'm actually 29)
  2. I look like a clown. (I am. I'm always laughing or joking around)

So I know you are all wondering, who's Steve and why did he make this website? So on this page I'm going to break down all my experiences to give you a better idea of who's behind the keyboard.

So I want to start off by stating that I am no longer a firefighter and was never a career firefighter. Surprising... I know BUT I was a volunteer firefighter for 5 years, attended Seneca college to take the pre-service firefighter course and took many other firefighting courses.

So basically, I started as a firefighter at the age of 17. My dad was in the fire department and being this 17 year old kid with no experience and no idea about what I wanted to accomplish in life, I decided to try it out. Let me tell you what... I LOVED it! Loved it so much that I decided to pursue it as a career.

So let's fast forward a couple years and here I am, a 19 year old, with 2 years of volunteer experience under my belt and a diploma from Seneca college. I tried multiple recruitments, having no issues getting the the interview stage BUT ultimately lacking that valuable and extremely sought after, "Life Experience".

So here I was unemployed and unsure of what to do next. I thought about taking more firefighting courses or maybe something in the medical field but couldn't make a decision. This is when my dad told me that maybe I should give trades a try and that the cleanest trade he knew was in the electrical trade (It's true...)

So fast forward to today and I am now a licensed electrician (I offer my electrical knowledge @ 55$/hr... just kidding). I have two dogs and an amazing girlfriend (who I boss around, god I hope she doesn't see this).

Disclaimer: I don't actually boss her around. We just thought it would make a funny picture.

But seriously...even with all these great things, I still genuinely enjoy helping others and this is where Fire Recruitment comes in. Since I'm not able to do it by being a firefighter, I decided to offer my knowledge and resources to aspiring firefighters so that you can then turn around and help people in need once you land your dream job!

I might not be a career firefighter myself but I do have very dear friends who are career firefighters, fire chiefs and fire marshals. I gather information from them and various online sources and give them to you at no cost.

So there you have it, a short bio about myself. If you plan on continuing your journey to becoming a firefighter with me.. the best way to contact me, get the most up-to-date information on new recruitments, interview, resume tips and much more is to join my email list.

You will get everything you need to land your dream job!

Have a great day and thank you for reading,
