Duties and Responsibilities

-Response to fire, rescue and medical emergencies
-Apparatus and equipment checks
-Fire hall maintenance
-Public education
-Commercial fire inspections
-On call duty shifts
-Other duties in keeping with the responsibilities of a rookie firefighter in a career hall as directed by the Officer in Command

Minimum Qualifications

-NFPA 1001 1 & 2 plus NFPA 472 with IFSAC or PROBOARD accreditation
-Class 5 drivers license with air brake endorsement
-Sun Peaks Fire Rescue Firefighter Medical Examination
-High School Diploma or equivalent
-19 Years of age or older
-Canadian Citizen or landed immigrant

Preferred Qualifications

-BCEMA EMR License or higher
-First Responder III
-Technical, Trades or equivalent level
-Previous Fire Fighting, Rescue or Emergency Medical Responder experience

-NFPA 1002 – Standard for Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications, JIBC
-Emergency Medical Responder, Canadian Red Cross
-Live Fire Training
-S-100 Basic Fire Suppression and Safety (Wildland Fires)
-Company Inspections, JIBC
-Emergency Scene Traffic Control, BCMSA
-Resilient Minds, CMHA

TIMELINE:

1.Contest Opens January 1st 2019-Closes February 28th 2019
2.Application and Resume Review: Early March 2019
3.Panel Interview/Skype Interview: Mid March 2019
4.Work Experience Program Offers: Before April 1 2019
5.Work Experience Program Start Date: May 1 2019
